Development would literally level the playing field for area kids

Anne Arundel County may be saying goodbye to a safe place for kids to gather in the winter. This winter, especially, should have seen families flocking to the site at the intersection of Johns Hopkins and Riedel roads on the way to Crofton from Gambrills. It is, after all, a terrific sledding hill.

State senate flames fracking bill; 'It is not going to happen.'

The Marcellus Shale is both a blessing and a curse. Before anyone has made any money from extracting the natural gas from the shale, it seems, the state of Maryland has sunk a pretty penny into researching the feasibility and impact of the chief extraction method, hydraulic fracturing. In June 2011, Gov. Martin O'Malley signed an executive order establishing the Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative and its Advisory Committee to address many of the questions lawmakers and citizens have about fracking.

Nudist fails to hold onto cabin; court approves eviction

The Maryland Health Society Inc. has prevailed in its tug-of-war with one of its members. The society is a nudist club located on 98 wooded acres in Davidsonville in Anne Arundel County. In addition to a clubhouse, a pool and other amenities, the club owns 25 cabins that it leases to members. This dispute centered on the member's 46-year lease on one of the cabins.
