Lease dispute leads to lawsuit against software tester

There is a lot that goes in to running a business. There are the basics, like hiring employees, keeping up with supply demands and managing accounts. And while all of these are essential, it's also important to make sure that the space that the business is running out of is being paid for.

Recently, the owners of a business park filed a lawsuit against software tester Janova LLC. The claim is Janova is behind on rent. This is in direct violation of the three year-lease Janova signed in order to operate out of the business park location.

A recent article does not mention how far behind on rent Janova is. However, there is reportedly proof of an email exchange between the business park owners and an office manager where it was acknowledged that the software tester is behind on accounts receivable.

The CEO of Janova also acknowledged the company is behind on rent. He said Janova got behind while planning an expansion that is set to add 100 jobs.

"We're still talking. We're still working through this...It's just unfortunate we got to this," he said about the lease dispute that led to the recent lawsuit.

Looking to the future, the hope is that something can be worked out between Janova and the business park.

In general, this case is a prime example of the fact that real estate matters can quickly escalate. These situations can also be particularly hard on Maryland businesses. This is why it's important to talk with an attorney who has experience handling real estate litigation as soon as an issue arises.
